Common situations
Ontario safety inspection rules are set by the province, not by the repair shop. The exact requirement can depend on the vehicle, the registration situation, and who is asking for the paperwork.
Common situations include registering or transferring a used vehicle, changing a vehicle from unfit to fit status, and meeting a third-party requirement from a rideshare, delivery, fleet, insurer, or other program.
What the inspection does
- Checks whether the vehicle meets Ontario safety standards at the time of inspection.
- Does not replace regular maintenance.
- Does not guarantee the vehicle will stay problem-free after the inspection.
- Does not include repairs unless you approve a separate written estimate.
Before you book
Have the vehicle year, make, model, and reason for the inspection ready. If a platform, buyer, insurer, or fleet manager is asking for it, confirm the exact paperwork they require before the appointment.
Green Auto publishes the inspection price as $99 flat. If repairs are needed to pass, those repairs are quoted separately before any work starts.
